What we do

Okehampton United Charity & Okehampton Educational Foundation

Castle Road AllotmentsOkehampton United Charity and Okehampton Educational Foundation are charities based in Okehampton and can make grants to any group or individual residing within Okehampton Town and Okehampton Hamlets (Brightley, Southcott, Meldon and Stockley). If you would like to apply for a grant or find out any information please contact the Clerk.

The activities of the charity include:

  • Providing two almshouses which are available to residents of the area of benefit who are in need, hardship or distress.
  • Managing three allotment sites in Okehampton with a total of seventy plots let to residents of the area of benefit.
  • Providing grants in the area of benefit as explained in What we do.
  • Managing its remaining land holdings in the area of benefit which includes the footpath Ball Hill. View a copy of the Charity’s tree management and protection document.

Map of Supported Area

Okehampton United Charity

Makes grants to organisations providing charitable benefits to the residents of Okehampton and its four Hamlets. This can include Community Facilities, Community Support, Sport and Recreation and Education. The Charity will consider applications for capital or running costs.

Okehampton Educational Foundation

Makes grants to Okehampton College and Okehampton Primary School, the Charity also makes grants directly to residents who are under 25 to assist them in furthering their education.
